It can be considered something coveted. It can be reviled. But no matter what a person’s view about it, United States Citizenship might not be easily understood by the majority of the world. Becoming a citizen lifts the fear of being deported and makes it legal to work in the country knowing such a right cannot be revoked by changes in laws. The national borders are open to being crossed by citizens and some permanent residents. Voting and public office is limited to citizens.

Providing proof of marriage is not hard, but sending in a marriage certificate is not enough.  Remember  to include utility bills, jointly held accounts, loans, or property documents, vacations (include photos and recipts), and child related documentation. Testimonials can  also be sent in, and may help your case if you are low on other forms for evidence.  Remember, it is this proof that counts the most to successfully gaining a lift on your residency restrictions.
